PATIALA, July 26: Indian Ex-services League (Punjab and Chandigarh) Patiala, has established a placement division at its Patiala office to commemorate the efforts made by Late Lt Gen Gurbachan Singh Butch, PVSM towards the welfare of ex-servicemen and their dependents during his lifetime after retirement from the Army, according to a release of the League issued here today.The release further said that the division will register the names of ex-servicemen and their dependents willing to serve in private, semi govt and autonomous bodies. The League will hold liaison camps to bring employers and ex-servicemen face to face, to create employment avenues for ex-servicemen and their dependents.The first such camp will will be held at the Patiala office of the League in Guru Ramdas Nagar on August 15. Ex-servicemen are being informed to get their names registered in advance.sale tax:The Sale Tax Commissioner has assured the Patiala Beopar Mandal that notification regarding the revised sale tax rates will be issued soon.This was claimed here today by the president of Mandal, Surjit Kumar Mehta.Mehta said that the assurance comes when a deputation of Mandal had met the commissioner regarding the issue. He said that the deputation has make it clear to the commissioner that untill notification is issued regarding the matter, the traders should charge the old ST rate.According to Mehta, other problems faced by the traders regarding on ST were also discussed in detail and the commissioner assured the delegation that there will be no harassment to traders by ST authorities.The deputation included Harjit Singh and Kundah Lal Gogia, senior vice-presidents and Jagdish Magoo, adviser.It may be mentioned here that on some items the ST has been reduced in the state budget but the notification regarding the revised ST rates has not been issued, claim traders.
