
MUMBAI, Dec 2: Industrials were subdued on the Bombay Stock Exchange BSE today due to profit taking coupled with lack of speculative support at the higher level.The sensex which crossed the 3600-mark dropped to finish with small loss 16 points.
The closing rates showed small widespread losses. The volume of business remained thin. The BSE sensitive index started better at 3566.53, touched the day8217;s high of 3601.43 but dropped to finish at 3553.48 with a net loss of 16.17 point compared to the previous level of 3553.48.
The BSE-100 index index declined by 6.77 points to 1540.00 against the previous close of 1546.77. Most of the major players have adopted a wait and watch attitude8217;. Foreign funds prefer to sit on the sidelines. Operators were buying as well as selling in a few select blue chip shares like Telco, SBI, Reliance and others.
On the NSE, pivotals moved in a narrow range both ways on alternate bouts of buying and selling and ended with marginal losses. The NSE-50 index opened at 1033.15, edged up to a high of 1041.25, later dropped to a low of 1024.85 and closed at 1029.80, showing a marginal loss of 2.85 over the previous close of 1032.65.
The Midcap opened at 1162.65 and closed at 1158.10, showing a fall of 4.05 over the previous close of 1162.15. ITC remained the most active scrip with a turnover of Rs 279.79 crore in the total turnover of Rs 737.28 crore followed by SBI of Rs 103.26 crore, Tata Tea of Rs 66.96 crore,Reliance of Rs 54.08 crore and Castrol Rs 53.06 crore.ITC remained slightly up at Rs 584 from previous close of Rs 583.75.
