MUMBAI, July 15: Pivotals moved narrowly on the Bombay Stock Exchange BSE today mainly due to lack of speculative support following the imposition of additional volatility margin on select scrips. Sensex drifted marginally. The closing rates showed small changes. The volume of business dropped.
The BSE sensitive index opened at 3404.87, rose to the day8217;s high of 3419.36 and low of 3348.66 before finishing at 3365.72 with a minor loss of 5.78 points compared to the previous level of 3371.50. The BSE-100 index lost 1.31 points to 1477.38 from the previous level of 1478.61.
Brokers said some bull operators, who had gone long on index scrips squared up their positions. On the National Stock Exchange NSE, pivotals ended with marginal gains on the first day of trading for the current settlement on speculative buying by domestic funds.
