LONDON, June 20: Gloucestershire, among the early pace-setters in the English county championship, face an inquest into the state of the pitch being used in their current game with Middlesex.

In one and a half days, 25 wickets have fallen and several batsman have been hit by sharply-rising deliveries. Gloucestershire’s Monte Lynch has suffered more than most, having to retire hurt twice.
