Pilgrimage season has never been better in Uttarakhand. Already a record number of pilgrims have visited the char dhams in Garhwal Himalayas in the first two months.

There has been a steady increase in the number of pilgrims over the years, but this year all previous records have been broken. The state has seen an increase of over 30 per cent pilgrims visiting Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Nearly 30,000 pilgrims are visiting Badrinath temple daily, and over 15,000 devotees are trekking the 14-kilometer stretch to Kedarnath shrine every day.

According to Anusuya Parsad Maikhuri, Chairman of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, within these two months 6.14 lakh and 4.75 lakh pilgrims have visited Badrinath and Kedarnath, respectively.
