Manipuri exponent, Darshana Jhaveri, has received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the year 1996 for her outstanding contribution to Manipuri dance. The youngest of the Jhaveri sisters quartet, Darshana is based in Mumbai and has been performing, choreographing, teaching and writing for more than 40 years.

Mumbai is again the subject of a lush coffee table book, this time released by MARG — which has made a name for itself in the past 50 years as a publisher of path-breaking magazines and books on art. Called Bombay to Mumbai, the book is the vision of a group of planners — Shirish Patel, Pravina Mehta and Charles Correa. At the release ceremony, Correa will also present a lecdem titled — Mumbai: Looking Ahead. At Experimental Theatre, NCPA on November 07, 1997. Time: 6.30 pm.
