ROHTAK, June 18: Notwithstanding the tall claims of Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences that nearly 200 nursing sisters and nurses have resumed duty, the medical services in the hospital continue to remain paralysed.

The nurses appointed on contract basis lack experience while those who have joined duty have sympathy with striking nurses. This is hampering the normal function of the hospital, said a doctor.

Even as the patients wait in silence for “proper care”, the nurses and government have adopted hard postures.

The hospital authorities are more concerned about the nurses’ strike and are paying little attention to the patients, said a doctor on the condition of anonymity.

The patients complain that there are no nurses to attend to them and that they “are left at the mercy of God”.Even the patients who have undergone surgery continue to remain in a state of neglect. Ram Kishan Malik, a former HCS officer, who is convalescing in Room number 18 of ward number 1 says “No nurse has ever visited my room to change the bed sheet.

No nurse comes to give me medicine.” Malik, with his right leg fractured continues to lie in his hospital bed waiting for someone to come and attend to him.

Rajeev, 15-year-old student of Class Eight was admitted on May 19 for fracture of neck. He is yet to be operated though a month has passed.
