
No more easy entry for people coming from Nepal to India by road, asserts a June 25 directive from the Ministry of External Affairs as part of security measures that will be implemented at all places bordering UP.
Now, all vehicles crossing the Nepal-India border in Uttar Pradesh will be required to take permits from Customs authorities and go through a thorough checking process.
At present, there are nine Customs check posts in seven Uttar Pradesh districts 8212; Pilibhit, Lakhmipur Kheri, Shrawasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar and Maharajganj 8212; covering the 700-km border between India and Nepal. 8220;So far the vehicles entering the Indian border from Nepal, were neither checked nor required any permit to come into the country, but now they will be monitored,8221; confirmed Customs superintendent Lalmani, who is posted at the Sunauli police check post at the UP-Nepal border.
