Sri Sukhmani group celebrates 10 years through Lamhe ‘08
It takes great hours of hard work and perspiration to achieve success, but to commemorate that all you can offer are moments. Knowing that, Sri Sukhmani Group celebrated its 10th annual function with Lamhe- 08 at Sri Sukhmani Institute of Engineering and Technology, Dera Bassi. A blend of technical, cultural and literary activities, the extravaganza proved to be the perfect platform for students to come together and showcase their talents. “The aim was to get the youth together to tie the knot of camaraderie, unity and tranquility through dance, drama and songs,” chairman Sukhmani group, Prof Avtar Singh informed.
The chief guest of the function Dr NP Singh, Dean Examination, PTU, Jalandhar, encouraged the performing groups to put their best foot forward. And the students sure did that in performances like solo and group dances, salsa. While the students grooved to foreign and Bollywood tunes, apna gidhha and bhangra got the crowd cheering and joining in. Humour and serious thoughts were juxtaposed through special one act play, mimicry and skit. The engineering students of SSIET put together a rock show while tradition rocked with a folk dance by Sri Sukhmani College of Nursing. A fashion show also added glamour and charm to the event.
No fest is complete without a ‘binge in’ zone, so there was chat and dhaba stall to take care of the hunger pangs. Students also enjoyed the magic show and shooting zone. The day long event got a perfect conclusion with the star nite that hosted Punjabi singer Gurdas Mann. The star nite was inaugurated by Shashikant (AGDP, Punjab Police). The singer had the audience on its feet with a mix of romantic and serious songs like dil da mamla hai, baabe bhangra, challa, peer tere jaan di among others. Until next time.
