PUNE, Jan 21: The campaigning for Pepsi-Verve 8217;99 commenced on Wednesday with a big bang. This inter-college festival, with an estimated participation of 144 colleges, was being eagerly promoted by the lovely Channel V veejay Rishma. And that8217;s not all. The next few days will see veejays Uddham, Ranvir and Tez tour the hot spots in the city.

Starting off on a spirited note in the Deccan area, Rishma first visited Poona Coffee House where she enchanted the crowds with her charm and energy. It was a chance for the college crowd to see their favorite veejay up close as well as to win Channel V T-shirts. Next in line was Vaishali Restaurant on F.C. Road. The unprepared crowd was in for a pleasant surprise but fast shed their inhibitions to have chat with the veejay. The short stop generated much cheer and exchange of information.

Pepsi, the official sponsors of Verve 8217;99 was on venue to offer exciting prizes for correct answers to questions put forward by Rishma. At Havana, the entertainment junction, the lady was quite happy to join in the entertainment. She tried her hand at the pool table and did some motor racing. Amidst the clicks and blips of the video games and ardent cheering, the the long-legged lady made her way through the arcade, all the while chatting up the young crowd that had gathered.

Lunch hour witnessed a packed Pizza Hut on Jangli Maharaj Road. The campaigners were greeted by enthusiastic family crowds. Rishma was not allowed to have her lunch in peace as she was thronged by many autograph hunters who lined up for a chance to meet the effervescent host of 8220;India Top Ten.8221; Over the next few days, Pepsi and Channel V have a lot more touring lined up before Pepsi-Verve 8217;99 actually kicks off on January 24.

The entourage will be going around to Thunderbolt, Pool-In, G-Mart, Juke Box, Burger King and Jaws on January 21. Fergusson and Symbiosis Colleges along with Savera and Vijay theatre will be the happening spots on the January 22. Next on the agenda will be 1000 Oaks, Black Cadillac, Totem Pole, Crossword and D.Y Patil College campus.

It was time to get into the groove. The first elimination round of the choreography competition Noopur in Pepsi-Verve 99 was off to a rhythmic start at the Bhave primary school auditorium with over 40 colleges taking part. The teams were expected to present a theme-based fusion item, incorporating at least two dance forms.

The themes chosen by the participating teams ranged from Integration in Diversity8217; to Attitude8217; and what-have-you. The auditorium resounded with popular Hindi film numbers that had the audience tapping their feet.

The participating teams will be judged on the basis of their coordination, creativity and their efficiency in portraying their theme through their choreography. Nikita Moghe, Anjali Bagal, Vaijayanti Aphle and Meera Pandol are the judges for the elimination round of the choreography competition.

103 colleges have registered for Noopur and only 20 make it to the finals. Only time will tell who8217;s got the right moves!
