
Defence Minister A K Antony on Friday arrived in Kashmir for a two-day visit. Antony visited forward posts and the Kaman Aman Setu, the last point on the Line of Control in Uri sector.
Meanwhile, Mufti whose party is spearheading the troop relocation demand in J-K said he is hopeful that Antony will announce a time-table for moving the Army from Kashmir.
However, Antony declined to comment on the issue saying he is relaxed that the border is peaceful for the past three years. 8220;I hope it remains peaceful,8221; he said. Antony said that peace does not mean that there will be any lowering of guard on the border.
In Uri, Antony interacted with soldiers and Army officers and asked them about the problems they were facing. He made a special mention of troops of 19 Infantry division saying that the Dagger Division had played an important role in checking infiltration.
The Defence Minister is scheduled to meet J-K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and People8217;s Democratic Party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during his visit.
