PUNE, Nov 29: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation notched up their second win in the ongoing Late Sadu Shinde cricket league conducted by the Poona District Cricket Association. Sunday Sports, Aaloch CC, Azad CC, MSEB, and Unity Council too tasted success in their respective matches, to accumulate additional points. Others teams to record wins were Rupee Co-Op Bank, M J Phule club, PMT, Eagle Flask and Praj Industries.

A fine unbeaten knock of 55 by Chandan Gangawne and Vivek Malesh 28, enabled PCMC to wipe out the paltry target of 127 set by New Union Club.

Earlier, Yogesh Sawant’s responsible knock of 53 helped New Union Club reach a respectable total, despite some good bowling from rival bowlers Chandan G, Raju Kotwal and Ravi Gaikwad, who returned with three wickets apiece.

In the Rashtriya Rasayanik Prayog School versus Sunday Sports encounter, it was the latter that took the honours, going past the 215 posted by the opposition with great ease, loosing only five wickets in the process.

The hero of the day for the victors was Milind Panse with 89 runs. Anand also looked set for a big total remaining not out at 33 when his team surpassed the winning target by two runs.

Meanwhile, Avinash Gaikad held sway for the Aaloch CC, his essay of 85 runs helping his team to set up a mammoth total of 231 for seven, which took them to a comprehensive victory over Evergreen CC when the latter were all out for 160.

A major chunk of the credit for the victory went to the Aaloch CC bowlers as Suhas Waghmale bagged four wickets at the cost of just 22 runs, while Kartik Kendhe had a haul of three wickets while giving away a total of 49 runs.

In the clash between Azad CC and Sangli Bank, however, it were the batsmen who did a major part of the work. Ashok Ranvade (65), Laxmikant Shinde (36) and Dhananjay Nimhan (35 n.o.) helped Azad CC post a formidable 214 for seven on the board. And despite some good work from Hemant Shah (55 n.o) and Parag (45), Sangli Bank looked nowhere like reaching near the target as wickets fell at regular intervals to finally restrict them to a meager 175 for eight.

The highest total of the day came from MSEB as a century from Deepak Conoor (119), put them in an almost invincible position with 316 runs and still some batting remaining before they ran out of overs. And if anyone could have surpassed the target it was certainly not rivals Old Monks CC, who had all the batsmen returning to the dressing room by the time the scoreboard read 150. Connor was definitely the pick of the day as he also pitched in with two very useful wickets at the cost of a meager nine runs.

The target of 124 set by Sinhagad CC for Unity Council CC was easily surpassed by the latter when they walked off the field, victorious at 126 for three.

Another comprehensive result in the day’s fixtures came in the clash between Rupee Bank and Cosmos Bank. Rupee Bank set up a total of 172, despite excellent bowling from Cosmos’s Yashwant Bhujbal who returned figures of 6/15. The target was howevery unattainable for the opposition as Cosmos crumbled for 94.
