Chandigarh, May 3: Punjab University Students Union PUSU office bearers allege that roll number slips for PU exams of students of SGGS College Sector 26 who did not fulfil the condition of 66 per cent attendance, were available for a price today.

The college principal, P.S. Sangha, on the other hand, denied the charge and counter-alleged that the charge was a ploy to quot;blackmailquot; him into giving roll numbers to those students, who did not fulfil the university conditions. PUSU president Lakhjit Singh, in a press release issued this evening, stated that college authorities issued oll numbers to students who fell short of the required number of lectures on payment of Rs 1,500. Singh added that the money was charged under quot;College Welfare Fundquot; and no reciepts were issued. While demanding that the money be returned and roll numbers issued to all, Singh has threatened to take up the matter with PU authorities.

Sangha, meanwhile stated that roll numbers of more than 50 students who did not attend the minimum required number of lectures were held back. He stated that earlier student leaders had approached him for roll numbers of those who did not fulfil the conditions. The allegations, he stated, were in reaction to his refusal.
