LUDHIANA, July 9: The PAU teachers have been given representation on board of management and the academic council — the two major decision making bodies of the university. Following a decision by the board of management, the registrar has isued a notification to the effect that the president of the PAU Teachers Association would be a special invitee to the two decision making bodies.
PAU Teachers Association president R.K.Batra and general secretary R.S.Brar, welcoming the decision, have expressed hope that the functioning of the university would become more transparent and the teachers would get an opportunity to place their point of view before the PAU authorities more effectively.
The PAUTA functionaries have also hailed the recent decisions of the board of management on a new policy for the transfer of scientists working on outstation research centres to main campus, appointment of heads of department, deans, directors and additional directors of research.
They were of the view that these important decisions would not only infuse greater confidence in the faculty but also reduce litigation and foster a healthy relationship between the teachers and the PAU authorities.
