OTHER THAN FILMS, what gives me a real high is the patch of green I have cultivated in my sixth floor flat in Juhu. This is be-cause the entire area is bursting with fruits and greens8212;all grown organically, courtesy my kitchen waste.

For me, gardening is not just about planting seeds and watering plants daily. I put all my home waste as manure in the garden. I have also kept some earthworms in the small green patch that I have nur-tured. Most of the house waste acts as food for them, as well as ma-nure for the plants.

Now, with a custard apple tree and a tulsi plant swaying to the breeze in the small leafy patch that I nurture so carefully, I can see all my efforts bearing fruit. The thondli creeper I planted some time ago has given me around 10 kg of fruit till now.

I also had some leftover lemon seeds, which I just threw into the soil sometime ago. And now there is a beautiful lemon tree in my garden, though it still has to bear fruit.

Apart from plastic waste, not even the remains of the used tea leaves find their way out of my house. It is wonderful to see this burst of green8212;all my own.
