Wodeyar not to join BJP

MYSORE: Member of the dissolved Lok Sabha, Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wodeyar, today denied reports that he was joining the BJP. Wodeyar said such speculative reports had no basis. Wodeyar had been elected to Lok Sabha twice on a Congress-I ticket. He had lost when he contested as a BJP nominee.

Gowda denial

MYSORE: Former prime minister, H D Deve Gowda, today denied having said that the union textiles minister R L Jalappa could leave Janata Dal if he so wished. When his attention was drawn to a New Delhi report, Gowda told reporters here that the question of Jalappa being asked to leave the party did not arise.

Muslims boycott

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam TMMK has called upon Muslims in the state to boycott the Lok Sabha polls, alleging that members of the community were like quot;second class citizens8221;. TMMK general secretary, S Hyder Ali, in a statement here, said the boycott call was given during a meeting of the party8217;s district secretaries here on December 26.
