SHIMLA, Nov 23: Northern Railway has conceded Himachal Pradesh government demand to transfer two sites, including the railway godown, to the government for development of new parking sites near ISBT here.
According to Deputy Commissioner Ram Subhag Singh, a team of senior Northern Railway officials is expected to visit Shimla for working out the modalities. Singh said the railway godown building was an ideal place for a multi-storey parking site besides the portion of land adjacent to the HRTC headquarters.
Though efforts were being made to identify and develop more parking sites in the town, major attempt was on taking over the sites from the railway authorities. He says the railways would be asked either to hand over the sites to the government or develop it on its own and then allow state agencies to use them on a payment basis.
