Parking lot auction stopped

CHANDIGARH, Nov 18: The superintending engineer of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has been restrained by UT Civil Judge (Junior Division) Jasbir Singh from auctioning the parking lot outside the Lake Club till tomorrow.Contractor Amandeep Singh, seeking stay, had earlier stated that the parking contract could not be auctioned as the same had been allotted to him through a letter dated December 9, 1997.

In a suit filed before the court, he had also sought directions to the Corporation for enhancing the contract period for another 11 months and to provide him with a "clear parking space" at the Club or "to refund advance money of Rs 1,45,000 along with interest.
