Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee hoped that the ongoing Indo-Pak dialogue will be able to find some tangible solution for a total normalisation of the relations.

Responding to an issue raised by some of the Pakistani MPs, particularly Kashmala Tariq, the Speaker said there had already been some progress made in this direction. During the inaugural session, even Pakistan8217;s leader of Opposition Maulana Fazal-Ur-Rehman made the point that the Kashmir problem remained a major stumbling block in the normalisation of Indo-Pak relations and this should be addressed through mutual dialogue. 8220;Unless we find a permanent and lasting solution to the Kashmir issue, there will not be progress in the peace process.8221;

The Pakistani members also talked about visa problems being faced by both sides. 8220;We have been wasting our huge budget in Kashmir on the army. This money could be utilised for poverty alleviation and other issues,8221; said Tariq.
