The design team has a brief to bring out a new range every 60 days so that their customers will always have something new and up to date to choose from. New look

While on designer wear, a name to watch out for is Kakoli Banerjee. A young graduate from NIFT-Delhi, currently working with J J Valaya, Kakoli was recently selected as designer of the year by the Confederation of Indian Apparel Exporters. Her collection titled Zen8230;a living experience8217; stood out as she used only eco-friendly materials and natural fabrics like silk and cotton. Awarded just last month at a ceremony at the Oberoi, Mumbai, Kakoli is now considering striking out on her own.

After all, now she has an armoury of awards 8212; while she was at NIFT she won the Ritu Kumar Award for Best Design Collection and the Uma Nath Gold Award. She was even awarded the best of the best8217; from all six chapters of NIFT and was sent to Florence to attend a special work shop at their fashion school.

Smell well

A Workshop with a difference was organised by Baccarose, the house ofperfumes. Along the lines of an everything you always wanted to know about fragrances but didn8217;t know whom to ask8217;. And taking up the challenge to find all the answers was Stephanie Royo, a nose8217; and the international training manager at the house of Azzorro, Montana. In a sparsely attended workshop, Stephanie explained what goes into the making of a fragrance and how to recognise and use it.
