New look

The new issue of eLAN is on the stands. The third edition of the magazine is a vast improvement over the first two. With a cover story on the look for the new millennium, the magazine determines that 21st century fashion will be a fusion of ideas from diverse world cultures. From make-up tips to accessories eLAN covers the entire range of change. In addition there are features on Riya Sen and Namrata Baruwa. There are also the regular columns by their band of celebrity editors from Manish Malhotra to Rhea Pillai Dutt. Finally, eLAN seems to be living up to its name.

Jazzy nights

Ever since Jazz By the Bay added NJ to its name, there has been no nightspot in the city that concentrates on jazz alone. Well, now the Oberoi8217;s Bayview Bar hopes to fill that gap. Till the end of October the swanky lobby level bar will be home to Alexis Cole. An American jazz singer, she has studied music in the University of Washington and will sing a mix of classic and contemporary jazz tunes. Cole is currently in Mumbai on an exchange programme to learn Indian classical music from Dhrupad singer Dhanashree Pandit. Cole will also be mixing American jazzwith Classical Indian music to come up with her version of fusion.
