
RIMT-Institute of Management and Computer Technology and RIMT-School of Management Studies jointly organised an 8216;orientation programme8217; for the freshers of the MBA course in the RIMT-IMCT campus here today. In this programme, 120 students of RIMT-IMCT and 80 students of RIMT-SMS participated.
In his welcome address, the chairman of the RIMT group and noted industrialist of the region, Hukam Chand Bansal urged the students to use various facilities and the resources of the institute to become the industry-ready managers of international standards. He assured the students that steps would be taken to ensure quality in education and the satisfaction of the students.
The chief guest of the programme, V.M. Trehan, who is the chairman of the Mekaster Group of Industries and a pioneer in the field of telecommunication called upon the students to adopt focussed and disciplined approach in life for success and gave gave numerous examples from his long career to make a point. He urged the students to foresee the coming opportunities in the burgeoning Indian economy and tap them by gaining more knowledge and skill development.
On this occasion, Trehan said that if any student of the institute was facing any financial difficulty in meeting expenses of his studies, then instead of leaving the study he should approach his group. He would try to provide all possible financial help in this regard to enable him to continue the study.
On this occasion, a book on 8216;Management of service sector,8217; edited by the director general of the Regional Institute of Management and Technology, Dr B.S. Bhatia was released by Trehan. Eminent strategic management consultant Dr Prem Kumar, the principal of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce, Ludhiana while presenting the review of book appreciated the contents of the book which contained various perspectives and strategies to study and counter the challenges posed by the emerging service sector.
Dr Surinder Singh, the director of the RIMT- School of Management Studies, in his review of the book lauded the efforts of Dr Bhatia and other scholar in compiling the valuable research which covers almost all the aspects of service sector.
