World No Tobacco Day : Smoking and chewing tobacco causes kills over six lakh people in India every year. This was disclosed by local legislator Anil Vij while speaking at a meeting organised by the Social Welfare Society Ambala Cantonment, on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day.He said chewing tobacco caused cancer and a substantial population was afflicted with this dreaded disease, besides, the addicts suffered from heart and lung diseases.He warned against the consumption of gutka

H Prakash Sharma, president of the society said his organisation had decided to campaign against the ills of tobacco chewing and smoking among the inmates of the slum areas. He said the society had already adopted one such colony in Ram Nagar to help the residents get rid of these addictions.
