One sentenced to death for killing wife, two kids

A man was here today sentenced to death by the court of District and Sessions Judge Gurdev Singh for killing his wife and two children on September 21 last year.

The convict, Tarsem Singh, in an effort to project the deaths as an accident, had set his own house on fire after killing his wife Binder Kaur 32 and two sons Gurvinder 10 and Parwinder 8. Tarsem had also got injured in the fire and was admitted to the Civil Hospital. The villagers had informed about the incident to the police, who smelled a rat after examining the spot.

During the interrogation, he had confessed to having murdered the three in a fit of rage over a petty domestic row.
