Obscene material seized

NEW DELHI, December 24: In a major crackdown on distributors of pornographic material in the Capital, officials of the CBI and Delhi Police today arrested 18 persons and seized 15,000 obscene books, magazines, floppies and negatives.

Those arrested include printing press owners, managers, computer technicians and distributors. Nine joint teams of the CBI8217;s Anti-Corruption Branch and the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police went on surprise checks in various parts of the city, including Palika Bazar, Laxmi Nagar, Vikas Marg, Rani Bagh and Shankar Market. The raiding parties recovered 1,195 pornographic CDs, 57 uncensored digital video discs and 65 pirated video CDs of recent Bollywood hits like Soldier, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Wajood and Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan from the basement of Palika Bazar. The Crime Branch has registered a case.
