NEW DELHI, OCT 6: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Delhi University and its Delhi School of Economics DSE for allegedly denying admission to three students who secured the same marks in the entrance test as five others given admission.
Justice K Ramamoorthy directed the University and DSE to file replies to a joint petition by Narinder Singh, Rupesh Kumar and Rajesh Kumar, who claimed that their names were ahead in the serial number compared to those admitted.
The three students in a petition seeking direction to the university to consider their case, said they had secured 52 per cent marks in the entrance test for admission in Master of Arts Geography along with five others who were given admission.
Their counsel Ashok Aggarwal alleged the DSE had adopted a quot;hostile and discriminatoryquot; attitude towards the students and claimed that in the past, whenever there was tie of marks, all candidates were given admission even if the total number of admission exceeded the permittedlimit.
The affected students said admissions exceeding the fixed limit was allowed by DSE from 1995.
