AHMEDABAD, Nov 23: Animation films are no longer kid stuff. Jacques Colombat, animation film maker from France said French animation films were for both adults and kids. Colombat, who was in the city to participate in Alliance Francaise8217;s Animation Film Festival8217; was talking at a three-day workshop on animation film making organised by the National Institute of Design NID.
Talking about the three most important ingredients of a good animation film Jacques said, quot;A good story. A good story. A good story.quot; According to him drawing and graphics come later on. He is in this field for the last 40 years and made his first film in 1961.
Walt Disney animation films are world famous and reactionary whereas French animation films are more creative, informs Jacques. The movies are made more intelligently because now-a-days parents are also interested in knowing what their children are watching. quot;Few efforts were made earlier for integrated animation and education. A lot can be done in the field, quot; said Colombat.
He said animation was not serious art, but it was serious business. The production cost of an animation film is similar to that of a feature film.
Talking about the technical difficulties involved in animation film making he informed, quot;Editing is easier in a feature film when compared to an animation film. It involves choice of one scene out of 10 to 20 scenes in the film, whereas in this there is no choice.quot; He interacted with the students of Animation Department of NID on Tuesday.
