Former India captain and chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar says that he is satisfied with the team selected for the tour of Bangladesh. Despite the fact that the directive from the board had suggested that the selection committee pick a young team for the tour, Vengsarkar said he believed that it consisted of the right mix.
Vengsarkar said today that the Board had written to him asking to select a young team under an experienced captain, but had not specified any particular names. In fact, he insisted that he had been given a free hand to select the players along with his team of four more selectors from different zones.
The chairman also left no time in spelling out names like Ranadeb Bose, Yusuf Pathan, Ashraf Makda, Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma who he had felt had impressed, but were unlucky to be left out. 8220;There8217;s a lot of cricket coming up. Therefore, those who8217;ve managed to do well in the domestic circuit will definitely be there in contention,8221; he said.
