While the board has finished drafting the players8217; annual contracts for the coming year, it hasn8217;t quite decided on the future of Greg Chappell as India8217;s coach yet.
For Chappell and his team of support staff members 8212; Ian Frazer assistant, John Gloster physio and Gregory King trainer 8212; a lot will depend on how India perform in the World Cup. Chappell8217;s two-year contract comes to an end after the World Cup.
The board, however, hasn8217;t set a benchmark for Chappell to prove himself. 8220;It8217;s not like if the team doesn8217;t make it to the semi-final, he will be out or probably if we are to win the tournament, he will be retained. Only after the World Cup will we be in a position to sit and talk about it,8217;8217; says a senior board official.
He also adds: 8220;In the end, the players8217; decision will also be taken into regard along with performance as the main criteria.8217;8217;
