
MUMBAI, Sept 3: Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi today refused to comment on the observations of Mumbai High Court Chief Justice M B Shah that Maharashtra is the worst administered state.
8220;I have read the remarks of the Chief Justice in the newspapers. I do not want to comment on them,8221; Joshi said.
During the hearing of a public interest litigation filed by Congress legislator Shantaram Aher urging the court to inquire into the purchase of Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI and CT scan machines for the J J group of hospitals, the Chief Justice had observed that Maharashtra was the worst administered state.
Top bureaucrats have, however, endorsed the Chief Justice8217;s views saying, after the last Lok Sabha elections, there has been a steady decline in the administration.
8220;We feel that owing to intra-alliance disputes, there is no direction to the Government, and as a result, it has come to a standstill, particularly during the last six months,8221; a senior official said.
