No bar on SMS score

Cricket fans in India can take heart8212;at least those used to receiving cricket scores via SMS. Ordering the vacation of the interim injunction it had granted earlier against the transmission of cricket scores by SMS, the Madras High Court today ruled that cellular phone subscribers can receive cricket updates on the India-Pakistan ODI series. Justice R. Bhanumathi accepted the cellular companies8217; contention that there could be no copyright over scores entering the public domain through live telecast and ruled that the 8216;balance of convenience8217; was in favour of removing the earlier interim injunction.
