Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati8217;s arrival in the Capital put an end to a lot of speculation, including within her own party. At her press conference, she stated categorically there would be no deputy chief minister, dashing hopes about her Brahmin mascot, Satish Mishra. Then at the tea party with Congress President Sonia Gandhi, and later at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh8217;s luncheon, Mayawati made it known that choosing the candidate was really the Congress8217;s problem. She had already made it clear she would continue to support the UPA Government and, therefore, her approval of their candidate can be counted on too. Even Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde is not a problem for Behenji, it is believed. She finally took off on Sunday afternoon, with her entourage of Mishra and her Cabinet Secretary, Shashank Shekhar Singh.
