ANANTAPUR, JAN 1: Nine Naxalites of the banned People8217;s War Group PWG have surrendered before the District Superintendent of Police here, police said today. The Naxalites, who belonged to Ganapathi and Vimkthipatham factions, laid down their arms before the Superintendent, V R K Mohan Rao on Friday.

Veluru Rajasekhar, H Nagabhushanam, R Obulesu, S Rajana, P Muthyalapana, C Naranimhulu, K Lintamajah, B Pothulaiah and B Gopal surrendered after being disillusioned with activities of the PWG, police said. Meanwhile, Naxalites of PWG burnt two multi-access rural radio telephones in Karimnagar district last night. Police said about ten ultras set fire to the MARR phone in the village post office at Gowravalli. Later they went to the gram panchayat office at Gudatipalli and burnt the phone there, police said. The Naxalites8217; action was apparently in protest against the December 2 encounter in which three of their top leaders were killed, police added.
