Nine arrested

Chandigarh, Sept 29: The city police arrested today 9 employees of SAS Nagar auto unit of PESCO including three union leaders Nirmal Singh Ghuman, Gurdeep Singh and P.S. Johal.

According to police sources, they were protesting in front of the office of unit chairman cum Managing Director U.S. Sidhu against the closure of unit and removal of 40 employees. Police said a case will be registered on the basis of inquiry report to be submitted by the inquiry officer.

President of Mahasangh of Employees of Punjab Corporations and Boards Ranjit Goel told Newsline on telephone that all corporations and boards will not function tomorrow as the employees have decided not to attend duty.
