NEW DELHI, MAR 24: The first $ 9.5 million contract for outsourcing and facilities management is from a large cement manufacturer chain in Thailand, a NIIT statement said here.

The contract involves working on leading edge technologies and setting up a SAP production centre and offering IT and computer facilities management services, the statement said.

It said that the company also bagged another $ 4.5 million software order from Singapore’s land transport authority for maintaining its road information management systems.

This order also uses the geographical information systems technology and resources to be provided by NIIT’s joint venture with ESRI Inc, the statement said.

President of NIIT’s Asia Pacific Pvt Ltd Rahul Patwardhan said "we believe that NIIT’s competencies in E-commerce and knowledge management offer a very powerful platform for rapid growth in the next three-five years."

The company is also planning to set up a centre of competence in E-commerce and knowledge management in Singapore the centre of competence would have 250 consultants by September 30, 2002.
