MUMBAI, JUNE 1: The Mumbai Doordarshan DD Kendra at Worli will inaugurate its new studio building, billed as the highest DD building in the country, on Wednesday. Construction for the building began in 1992.
The 11-storeyed building, situated within the DD premises, houses four studios A, B, C and D. Two are 188 sq ms each, one is 95 sq m, and the last is a sound studio.
Says B K Dey, Engineering-in-chief of the Mumbai Kendra,8220;It is one of the biggest studios in the country. It was almost a Herculean job and we are happy to have done it.8221;
No specific programming targets have been set for the new studios as yet, say DD officials. Dey also announced that the facilities will be open to the film industry for recordings and the rates have already been determined.
