The NCP is in a spot over action against its lone Jharkhand MLA Kamlesh Singh who remained absent from the Assembly when Chief Minister Arjun Munda sought a vote of confidence today.

Sources said Singh has not taken an oath as a member of the House yet. Therefore, any action initiated by the party over his violation of a whip would not be tenable. NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar said: 8216;8216;We had issued a whip to him Singh to vote against the NDA government. We will take action in accordance with the law if he violates the whip.8217;8217;

Anwar claimed BJP was trying to lure Singh. 8216;8216;It is immoral,8217;8217; he said, reminding BJP of the law enacted during its own rule.

Singh has not given any letter of support to NDA yet. Munda had initially included the NCP MLAs name in the list of ministers to be sworn in along with him. However, Singh failed to show up.

Asked about the resignations of two NCP ministers in Maharashtra following their indictment by the Sawant Commission, Anwar said it would improve the party image. He said: 8216;8216;They had resigned on their own on moral grounds. There was no pressure from the party8230;We have honoured the Commission8217;s report.8217;8217;

Anwar was non-committal about the possibility of former Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Nirupam joining the party. 8216;8216;Though there are no talks yet, but all possibilities are open in politics,8217;8217; he said.
