The extremists fled from the scene after killing Laxman Parlipal, who used to assist security forces at the Cherpal relief camp.

Meanwhile, CRPF personnel and Maoist rebels had a two-hour long encounter near Kondagaon in Kanker district on Tuesday afternoon. The paramilitary forces were attacked by the rebels on their way to a nearby village following information that the Naxalites had killed a trader.
