MUMBAI, OCT 3: National Cricket Club have retained the `A’ Division title in the 52nd Dr HD Kanga Cricket League. In the final league match today, they defeated sister Club MB Union on the first innings to take their tally to 38. Cricket Club of India, who defeated Khar Gymkhana to collect five points, finished second with 36 points.
This was National’s seventh title of the championships. They first won in 1966 (joint winners with Parsee Cyclists and Shivaji Park Gymkhana), then in 1970, and followed it with a hat-trick between 1993-95.
New Hind, second overnight, drew their match with Victory to finish third with 35 points.
The day’s bowling honours went to National’s medium pacer Manish Patel who had remarkable analysis 10-2-18-6,as MB Union were bundled out for 51, in reply to National’s total of 169 for 8 declared.
Parsee Gymkhana beat Shantibhai Sheth Memorials on first innings to win the `B’ Division title. Worli Sports and Islam Gymkhana finished joint second with 40 points each.
