NASHIK, AUG 18: Following neglect by the local police, the Crime Branch has been asked to investigate the kidnapping and murder of a seven-year-old boy Shubham Sunil Lodha, whose body was found on the Anaki hill near Manmad on Wednesday.
The district Superintendent of Police Bhagwant More said Manmad police inspector Ranjit Abhinkar had been transferred to Igatpuri while a sub-inspector Shrikrishna Rajdev had been transferred to Yeola for negligence.
He said that the case had been handed over to the local Crime Branch for investigation. The boy, studying in Class II of the Chhatra High School, had been missing since August 12 and the discovery of his decayed body on the Ankai hill had caused a furore in the Manmad town with people resorting to an impromptu rasta roko to demand action against the officials of the Manmad police station.
The kidnapper, Kishore Sukdev Satpute, who used to work in the shop of the boy8217;s father about a year ago, surrendered to the police after the boy8217;s body was found. The police had earlier questioned Satpute8217;s family members as he had been seen taking the boy on a bicycle on Saturday. Satpute told the police that he had tried to gag the boy to stop him from crying and in the process the latter died. However, a doctor who examined the dead body said that the boy had been brutally killed as there were wounds over his body.
