Myanmar’s Brazilian coach Falopa Marcos is not worried about facing India in the semi-final.
Marcos, who as Brazil’s assistant coach in the early 70s had worked with Pele, felt that despite today’s loss his team has the ability to go the distance.
Myanmar lost to DPR Korea in their last group league match of the AFC Challenge Cup at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium to finish second in Group B. DPR Korea, who won thanks to a Ro Hak Su strike in the 15th minute, became the group champion and would face Tajikistan in the semis. Both the matches are on Thursday.
Ground conditions took a toll on both sides and forced the players to make extra efforts. Still there was some quality stuff on display. Myanmar impressed with their ability to hit on the breaks, while DPR Korea, the highest ranked team here, were superior technically.
Meanwhile, at Gachibowli Stadium, Nepal beat Sri Lanka 3-0 in an inconsequential tie.
