Competition
The Kandivli Medical Association is holding a one-act play competition at Karnataka Sangh Hall, Matunga. The plays can be in Marathi, Hindi, English and Gujarati. The elimination round will be held on January 11, 1998 and the finals on February 1. A light classical singing competition has also been organised. Elimination rounds will be held on January 18 and finals on February 1. Prizes worth Rs 10,000 will be awarded.

Drug price
Kelfer, a drug used to treat thalassaemia patients, will now cost 35 per cent less. The monthly treatment cost with Kelfer will now range from Rs 300-1440 as against Rs 10,000 with the only alternative treatment, injectable desferrioxamine.
Meeting
A gathering of sarpanches and gram panchayat members of the Bharatiya Janata Party will be held on December 13. A discussion on increasing the income and upgrading the rights of gram panchayats will be held. MP Pramod Mahajan, Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde and Rural Development minister Anna Dange will attend the meet.
