Cultural exhibition

Door Step School, an NGO working to meet the educational needs of slum communities in the A ward and Giants Group of Chowpatty are jointly hosting an exhibition-cum-competition on States of India’ on September 6 at the Birla Krida Kendra. The programme is being held to mark International Literacy Day, which falls on September 8.

The display on various states of India will be presented by eight NGOs and they will attempt to depict the geographic, cultural and historic aspects of the state. There will also be a presentation of folk dance and music in the evening. The exhibition will be inaugurated by S P Godrej at 10 am.

Ancient coins on display

The Department of History of R D National College, Bandra (west), is organising a exhibition of coins on September 9. Over 9,000 coins dating from 700 BC and covering the numismatic record of ancient dynasties of South India, Mughals, Colonial India and other phases of Indian history will be on display. These are from theprivate collection of Sennen Dourado, a professional numismatic. Those interested can visit the exhibition from 10 am to 3 pm in the badminton court of the college.
