Function for Hashu Advani

The Vivekanand Education Society has organised a function in the memory of late Hashu Advani on his fourth death anniversary on July 22 at 11 am at its Chembur centre. Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Union Minister for Human Resources Development, Science, Technology and Oceanology will be the chief guest.

Inaugural pooja will be conducted by Baudhi lamas on the banks of Sindhu. A group of yatris will leave from Mumbai on July 25 to join the festival at Ladakh and return on July 31. For participation and details, call on 6441094; fax: 3439308.

CFSI films get awards

Three award-winning films 8211; A K Bir8217;s Nandan, Santosh Sivan8217;s Malli and Virendra Saini8217;s Kabhi Paas Kabhi Fail 8211; will be presented on August 5 at a five day Children8217;s Film Bonanza to be flagged off by Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Pramod Mahajan, in New Delhi. Photography workshop

International photographer Darren Centofanti will conduct a photography workshop at Nehru Centre Art Gallery. Centofanti has won two National Photography Awards and has been twice been named SA Professional Photographer of the Year.

Centofanti will discuss and demonstrate techniques and styles combining colour and Bamp;W film with light to create surreal effects; using coloured lights to produce white light and coloured shadows; 3-D photography to produce images, fashion photography and how to shoot models in zero gravity8217;. MTNL officers form association

Under the initiative of Arvind Sawant, MLC, all officers of MTNL from Junior Telcom Officer and Junior Account Officer to Super Grade I have united to form the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited Officers8217; Association.

The officer-bearers include G R Sarfare as president, V K Shrivastav as working president, R R Mishra as general secretary, V G Gawas as joint general secretary and V H Sawant as treasurer. The association plans to launch an agitation to press for: immediate absorption of Grade I and II officers, including Jr Telcom Officers and Jr Account Officers, ad hoc payment of Rs 3,500 to officers, allotment of eligible number of MTNL shares at reasonable prices and full autonomy to MTNL in tarrif flexibility.

Marathi and Kannada classes
