Fatal attack: One killed, two hurt

In two separate cases of murder and dacoity in the city, one person lost his life while two others were injured.

In the first case, Faiz Ahmed Samsher Shaikh 23 and his friend Imtiaz Ahmed Ismail 22 were attacked by three persons with choppers while they were playing carom at Hakim Chawl, Jogeshwari at 1.15 am. The accused, Hasan Ali Jaffar Ali Shaikh 45, his son Younus 20 and one Mistry 27, allegedly attacked the duo to avenge a previous enmity.

Both were rushed to Cooper hospital; while Faiz was declared dead on admission, Imtiaz is serious. The Meghwadi police has registered an offence against the accused, who are absconding. In another incident, five unidentified gunmen entered a shop at 8.15 pm on Wednesday at Gokhale road in Dadar and looted more than Rs 17,000, shooting at a shop worker Anil Shah 29 in the process.

Trader robbed of Rs 6 lakh, 5 held

Crime branch sleuths on Wednesday arrested five persons in connection with lootingRs 6 lakh from a city businessman recently. The victim S Chaturvedi, an employee with S N Podar Company, was carrying the cash belonging to his employer when he was attacked by the armed robbers at his office on the sixth floor of Dalamar Towers, Nariman Point at around 1.15 pm on June 21. After the snatching the cash bag the robbers fled.
