  • The organisation Impact has organised residential workshops between April 18 and May 30 at Dahanu. The workshop aims at making its participants successful8217; in life.   • Workshop at IIT design centre

  • The Industrial Design Centre, Indian Institute of Technology, Powai, will conduct a hands-on workshop with Kristiene Michael from March 15. The modules include: Egyptian Paste March 15-19, 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, Rs 1,500; Nerikomi March 15-19, 1.30 to 3.30 pm, Rs 1,500 and Kiln building March 22-26, 9.30-4.30 pm, Rs 2,500. The workshop will be held at the centre. Participants will have to get their own towels, aprons or tools required.   • S P Singh, a Police Inspector attached to the Railway Protection Force, was recently awarded a cash reward of Rs 20,000 and a certificate by the Director Central Bureau of Investigation for investigating a case related to the security scam of 1992 involving the Can Bank Financial Services fund worth Rs 33 crore.
  • Singh, who was on deputation to the CBI, had successfully investigated the case where the Special Court convicted share broker Hiten Dalal and S Mohan of Canfina last year. The accused were sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 20,000 each.

    Police hold welfare show

  • The Navi Mumbai police held a welfare show at the Navi Mumbai Sports Association ground last Saturday in which film artistes presented various entertainment items. Some of the artistes present included Tabu, Sharad Kapoor, Sudesh Bhonsale and Adesh Srivastava. According to Sanjeev Gonarkar, Deputy Police Commissioner zone 1, a fund ofRs 9.60 lakh was collected from the show. The money is to be used for giving scholarships to meritorious students, for medical treatment, emergency relief and police rehabilitation programs.
  • Workshop held on HIV/AIDS

  • A three day workshop on Reorientation of Ayurvedic physicians in HIV/AIDS and STD8217; was held between February 26 to 28. The workshop was sponsored by National Aids Control Organisation, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and was organised by the Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha in assistance with R A Podar Central Research Institute.
  • Muslim saint to visit city

  • Huzoor Syed Ahmad Jilani, the descendant of Huzoor Gaus-al-Azam Dastagir Abdul Qadir Jilani of Baghdad, will arrive in Mumbai on a four day visit on Wednesday. Jilani will reach Sahar from Karachi on March 10 at about 6.30 pm. He will put up at the Taj Hotel.
