The extradition proceedings in the sensational murder of music baron Gulshan Kumar last year took a curious twist this morning when prime accused Nadeem’s advocate took a stand that he would not get fair justice in Maharashtra as his client was a Muslim. Arguing before the Bow Street Magistrate, where the matter came up for hearing this morning, Nadeem’s lawyer Clive Nichols has sought time toadduce evidence in order to substantiate the allegations. The case has been adjourned till March 26, 1998. Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, who has been hired by the Mumbai police to extradite Nadeem to Mumbai in connection with the murder, when contacted said he is yet to receive the defence of Nadeem in the extradition proceedings.
Vigraha installation ceremony
The Lord Subramanya temple at Ambika Nagar, Gograswadi, Dombivli (east) has organised a ceremony of installation of vigrahas on January 31 at 10 pm. Sharayu Pradhan, Mayor of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation and Sharad Gambhir Rao, leader of the house, will be among the guests at the function. The managing committee of the Subramanya Samaj, Dombivli, informed in a press release that the construction of the main temple would be completed soon, and a Mahakumbhabhishekham will be conducted.
Maghi Ganesh festival
The Maghi Shri Ganesh festival, observed in the Siddhivinayak temple, Prabhadevi, began onThursday and will continue till February 3, 1998. Various religious programmes will be held, including the release of a book and an audio and video cassette devoted to lord Ganesh on February 1. Several Ganpati idol-makers will also be felicitated.
