Plays by the visually impaired

Visually impaired children of Kamla Mehta School and Victoria Memorial School will be performing two plays, Andher Nagari Chaupat Raja and Gopi Gawaiya Bagha Bajaiya on November 11 and 12 at the NCPA Experimental Theatre and November 20 and 21 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at Chowpatty. A total number of 45 children have been trained for this by directors Avinash Deshpande and Ashok Purung.

Goat farming training course

March by Yuvak Biradari

Yuvak Biradari will be organising a long march throughout the country to promote issues of national and global interest and promote brotherhood. The march, called Cauvery se Sabarmati Tak8230;Sabarmati se Yamuna tak8230;will cover4,000 kms between December 10, 1998 and January 30, 1999. It will pass through Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Gold badge for NUSI official

Leo Barnes, general secretary of the National Union of Seafarers of India, has been awarded the Gold Badge8217;, the highest honour bestowed by the International Transport Workers8217; Federation, in recognition of services rendered by him to transport workers.

Medical camp for students

Over 500 students of Std V, VI and VII of Bhau Saheb Hiray Vidyalaya at MP Mills Compound, Tardeo, were examined at a medical check-up camp organised by the Rotary Club of Mumbai Central on November 5.

Stone hurled at local, one injured

A 33-year-old man was injured below the right eye after he was hit by a stone while travelling in a local train between Byculla and Sandhurst Road stations.

Rajaram Harishchandra Tawde, a resident of Bhandup, was on his way to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus when the incident occurred at around 1.45 pm. He wasstanding near the footboard in a crowded slow local train when a sharp object was hurled at him from the tracks.

Tawde was administered first aid at the St George Hospital and then discharged. A case has been registered at CST railway police.

Litterateur to be felicitated

Amruta, an organisation that works for artists, will be organising a function to felicitate renowned linguist and litterateur Dinkar Joshi for his contribution to literature.

The function will be held on November 13 at Patkar Hall, at 4.45 pm. Minister of State for Railways Ram Naik will address the function, among others. Dinkar Joshi8217;s novel Prakash Nu Parchayo inspired the sensational play Gandhi vs Gandhi.
