Chhota Rajan man nabbed

  • The Unit-VII of the Crime Branch arrested Chhota Rajan gang member Sikandar Khan, alias Firoz Khadda, from Lucky Hotel, Bandra.

    • Khadda, an extortionist who is also involved in several kidnapping cases, has reportedly confessed to killing George Dias alias Joe at Andheri last week.

    One arrested for smuggling

  • Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit AIU of the Customs arrested Abdul Kader Thouty for allegedly smuggling assorted foreign currency on Tuesday night.

    • Thouty was checked on grounds of suspicion, said customs officials, before he was about to board a Gulf Air flight to Abu Dhabi. The currency was found concealed in film rolls and polythene bags in his suitcase.

    Thouty reportedly stated that he had was smuggling the currency to make a fast buck. He was to be paid 500 dirhams for carrying the currency, he added, which he was to deliver to one Ashraf in Dubai.

    Thouty was produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Usha Iyer, whoremanded him to judicial custody upto August 19.

    Film criticism course at NCPA

  • The Jindal Arts Creative Interaction Centre of the National Centre for Performing Arts has organised a film appreciation course between August 20 and 23. The course will be conducted by Suresh Chhabria, professor of Film Appreciation with the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. The course, open only to media professionals and film students, is between 10 am and 8 pm. The registration fee is Rs 600. For forms, call on 2833737/3838 extension 204 between 10.30 am and 5.30 pm Monday to Friday.
