Mumbai made a solid start in the Under-22 CK Nayudu Trophy semi-final match against Bengal finishing the first day on 247 for 4 after they were put in at the Eden Gardens today.

Mumbai made a solid start in the Under-22 CK Nayudu Trophy semi-final match against Bengal finishing the first day on 247 for 4 after they were put in at the Eden Gardens today. Abhishek Raut led the charge with an unbeaten 92 13215;4, 1215;6, while Shoaib Sheikh made 65. The latter was painstakingly slow and took 201 balls for his 65. He, however, was able to frustrate Bengal bowlers and put on 111 runs with Raut for the third wicket. For Bengal, Mohammad Ashrafuddin was the most successful bowler with 3 wickets for 73 runs.

In another semi-final at Jadavpur University Campus ground, Punjab, electing to bat first, finished Day One on 208 for 5. Taruwar Kohli top scored for them with 82, while Urkirat Singh and Sarul Kanwar made 57 and 35 respectively. Kohli and Singh stitched a 122-run partnership for the third wicket after Punjab were reduced to 67 for 2. For Baroda, right-arm off spinner Utkarsh Patel and left-arm spinner Ketal Patel bagged 2 wickets each.
